Bicycle Safety

Every year some of our local businesses put on a bicycle safety day... the bikes get inspected, you can register your bike with the police department, we watch bike safety videos, have a question/answer time with an officer, goodie bags and prizes, and a fun exercise coarse.

We all registered our bikes, they were new last year. This was the first year Ebeni could make the bike ride across town on her bike. We had a great time. They drew for prizes and there weren't a lot of kids there so not many went home empty handed. They first drew the names for the bikes but didn't tell anyone, saving it for last. Then they did helmets and misc. prizes. All our kids had their names drawn. Elijah got a new helmet, she won last year too. Declan got a Dairy Queen treat. His friend won a helmet and didn't want it and she was nice and gave it to Declan. How sweet!

The very last prize was the little girls bike and Ebeni WON! She bawled... she was mad! haha! She wanted a helmet! I had to console her... YOU WON A BIKE!! Everyone came by and said, "I hope those are tears of joy." I'm like, "nope, she's pissed." After a while I told her we could go buy her a helmet! Then she warmed up and had her picture taken for the paper. The bike mind you is HUGE and she won't be able to ride it for 2 years... but she's proud of it!
